Shop, Transfer, and Unclaimed Firearms Policies

INCOMING FFL TRANSFERS & SHIPPING POLICY

Pre-Transfer Notice: Customers must notify Redeemed Gunsmithing prior to initiating any incoming firearm shipment. Unannounced transfers may be delayed or refused.

Shipper Documentation: Shippers must include a valid FFL copy or legible state ID (for non-FFL private sellers) along with customer contact info and order details.

FOID Card Requirement: Illinois residents must possess and present a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card for all firearm transfers (unless a statutory exemption applies).

Mandatory Waiting Period: Pursuant to Illinois law, a 72-hour waiting period applies for Illinois residents for all transfers, calculated from the original date/time of purchase.

Background Checks & Fees: Transfers will only be released following successful completion of background checks (Form 4473/ISP FTIP). Transfer fees apply regardless of background check approval status.

PREMISES SAFETY & FIREARM HANDLING POLICY

To ensure the safety of our residential shop, customers, and community, strict adherence to safety rules is required upon arrival:

  • Unloaded Requirement: ALL firearms brought onto shop premises MUST be completely unloaded (chamber and magazine cleared). Loaded firearms are strictly prohibited inside the facility.
  • Transport & Casing: Firearms must arrive fully encased, holstered, or secured in a closed gun case/container. Do not uncase or handle firearms outside designated intake areas.
  • Ammunition Protocol: Do NOT bring live ammunition into the shop unless explicitly requested for diagnostic testing or custom load tuning. Any ammunition provided must be factory-manufactured and clearly labeled.

SERVICE ESTIMATES, DIAGNOSTICS & CUSTOM PARTS

Diagnostic evaluations are subject to a standard shop evaluation fee, which is applied toward completed repairs. Custom part orders may require full or partial payment prior to ordering and are non-refundable once parts are sourced or altered.


MANDATORY TRIGGER & ACTION WORK DISCLAIMER: All specialized trigger refinement, action tuning, sear adjustment, or custom component installations require the completion and signing of a separate Firearm Service Agreement & Liability Waiver prior to any mechanical work being performed.

UNCLAIMED & ABANDONED FIREARMS POLICY

Notice: This policy applies to all Gun Control Act (GCA) firearms—including handguns, rifles, shotguns, receivers, and frames—deposited with Redeemed Gunsmithing for repair, customization, restoration, or transfer.

  • Receipt & Completion Notification: Firearms delivered for service or transfer will be held until picked up. Upon completion, evaluation, or transfer readiness, the customer will receive official notification via phone call, text, or email stating the firearm is ready for pickup.
  • Storage Fees & Escalation Timeline:
    • 0 to 30 Days Post-Notification: Grace period. No storage fees accrue if collected within 30 days of initial notice.
    • Day 31+ Post-Notification: Storage fees begin accruing at $1.00 per calendar day, retroactive to the original completion notification date.
    • Follow-up Contact Attempt 1: Formal email/text notification with read receipt detailing accrued fees and requesting an immediate pickup schedule.
    • Follow-up Contact Attempt 2: If no response within seven (7) days of the first follow-up, a second electronic notice will be issued.
    • Final Notice (Certified Letter): If electronic communications remain unanswered, a Certified Letter with Return Receipt Requested will be mailed to the customer’s last known physical address, demanding payment of unpaid balances/storage fees and retrieval within seven (7) days of receipt.
    • Declaration of Abandonment: If the Certified Letter is returned undeliverable, or if the customer fails to collect the firearm within the seven (7) day window specified in the Certified Letter, the firearm will be officially declared ABANDONED PROPERTY and recorded in the shop’s FFL Acquisition & Disposition (A&D) Bound Book log.
  • Enforcement Under Labor and Storage Lien Act (770 ILCS 45/1): Pursuant to 770 ILCS 45/1, Redeemed Gunsmithing holds a statutory lien on any firearm for labor, skill, materials expended, or storage furnished. Abandoned items will be processed or disposed of via:
    • Lien Foreclosure/Sale: Foreclosed upon or sold to satisfy outstanding repair labor, diagnostic fees, custom parts costs, and accrued storage charges in full compliance with Illinois law.
    • Return to Originating Shipper: For incoming transfers where the buyer fails to complete background checks or pick up the item, it may be returned to the shipping dealer, minus accrued storage fees and return shipping expenses.
    • Surrender to Law Enforcement: Unclaimed items that cannot be legally transferred or liquidated will be surrendered to local law enforcement for final disposition or destruction.
